Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga Yoga is the eight limbed form of yoga described by the sage Patanjali in the yoga sutra.

Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is in the broadest sense the intelligent combination of practices associated with all the limbs of yoga into a single integrated practice.

In the narrow sence ashtanga vinyasa yoga is the practice of set prescribed series of asana where the practioner gives their attention to breath, sight, count and posture. In this practice all movement flows with the breath and the asana are joined in series punctuated with sun salutation like moves known as vinyasa The effect of this on the bodily system is often highly invigorating and in the long term builds stamina and suppleness even to the extent of ameleoriating many prior longterm weaknesses. Such bodily changes are good in building or rebuilding self confidence and are usually also a lot of fun.
